Okay you guys, I'm introducing to you for the first time, my little niece, Nora Ellice :) Isn't she the sweetest little thing you've ever seen? That's her with her mom, my sister the day she was born, I could melt into a puddle :)
I've been sick for the last little while, so I've not been able to see her since the hospital!! I'm feeling better though, so hopefully soon. This is the first baby in the family, and I can tell, she's gonna be spoiled rotten :)

Wore Stories: To Work
I've found that I don't like wearing pants to work in the summer. I'm always reaching for a dress or a skirt, I just can't get myself to put pants on when the weather is so gorgeous, it'd be a waste of perfectly good bare leg weather!
Shoes: Thrifted, Skirt: Out of the Blue, Top: F21, Necklace: Thrifted antique pendant that I put onto a chain
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend, I'm planning on spending my Sunday afternoon in my sewing room working on custom orders and whipping up one last round of maxi dresses before the end of Summer! YIKES I can't believe next week is August!!!

Friday Etsy Faves: ZIB Textile
I am loving the creativity of the photos in ZIB Textile's shop. Never mind the fun colors, printed leggings and hand painted t-shirts!
The only problem I have with printed leggings is-where do I wear them, and what do I wear them with??? With these...I don't even think I need a reason :)
It's Friday, and it's been a crazy week. We said goodbye to my Grandma the same day we said hello to my sister's new baby-what a crazy day! To top it off, I'm starting to feel under the weather, just in time for the weekend. Yikes. Hope you're all fairing well this weekend, be back soon with baby pictures, wedding pictures and who knows what else!

Weekends
This weekend was our 6 month anniversary of being married, so we made supper and had a nice evening in our backyard. I made Grapefruit lemonade from this recipe but I added fresh mint from our herb garden. It was tasty!
Husband made pork tenderloin with roasted baby potatoes and garlic bread!
Tank Top: Heidi-and-Seek Boutique, Shorts: George (Used to be jeans, I cut them into shorts), Necklace: A gift from my mother-in-law
The house we bought came with two fire pits, so we turned one into an herb garden! It's perfect. We have fresh mint, thyme, oregano, dill, cilantro, jalapeno peppers, parsley and who knows what else! It's so awesome to be able to run out to the backyard and grab some fresh herbs for meals.
Tired husband rests his eyes :) It was a good weekend.
This week is crazy busy, I just sketched out all my fall/winter items for the shop and I've already tried something new and it turned out fantastic! I can't wait to show you!

Wedding Photos: The Bowling Lanes
In my last wedding post, I showed a few pictures from our first location, the public library. Our second location was the bowling alley!
The story behind this one is that this is where he took me on our very first date :) I remember exactly what I wore, I remember what he was wearing, I remember the music that was playing in his jeep on our way to the bowling alley....INSERT SAPPY SIGH HERE
Our very first date he took me bowling, then to Smitty's where we ordered pie and ice-cream and didn't eat it :)
Today it's 6 months that we've been married, I've loved every minute <3

Friday Etsy Faves: Blackbird and The Owl
I'm loving these pretty pretty suede and leather pouches from Blackbird and The Owl. I love the fun colors and patterns they use, and just the sense of fun in all their items.
I work on Saturday, so me and my sister-in-law are going to the beach today!! Either that or having a fabulous photo shoot! Either one, I'm looking forward to it :)
Happy Friday!

Wedding Photos: The Library
We picked three different locations to take our wedding photos, all of which were special to our relationship. Our first stop was the public library.
On the day we made our relationship 'official', we had finished our date but didn't really want to leave each other quite yet (cheesy, I know, but I loved it), so we ended up at the library sitting in a reading nook, enjoying each other's company.
Coming soon: The Bowling Alley!

What's Up Wednesday-Fabric: My Picking Process
Hey guys! It's "What's Up Wednesday!" Every now and then I'm going to give you a little peek into my creative side of things. Today I'll be sharing the process of picking my fabrics.
In case you are not aware, all my clothing is upcycled. This means that I either found leftover pieces of fabric at a second-hand store or I found something that I can use to make an item (e.g. pillow cases, a table cloth, bed sheet, etc.)
1. The local thrift store where I live is closed on Mondays so that they can get the store ready for Tuesday by putting out all that was brought in over the weekend. Occasionally I will go for 9:30am on Tuesdays when they open, but it's a MAD HOUSE of people rushing around hoping to get the best of the best before anyone else does! *I'd MUCH prefer to go when it's quieter so I can really think about the fabric before purchasing.
2. I head straight over to the fabric section, followed closely by the pillowcases, bed sheets and table cloths. I tend to gravitate to knits and breathable cottons, as most of what I make has stretch to it, and I like to be comfy and hang well when worn. I also obviously am attracted to patterns-floral print, stripes, graphic prints, etc. I'll usually grab those before I even know what kind of material it is ;)
3. I make sure to feel the fabric to make sure it's something I can work with, and think about what I could make with it. If I don't have an idea of what to make with it, I don't buy it. Even if it's awesome. There's nothing worse than having fabric cluttering up my work space that eventually is going to go straight back where it came from
4. I always forget-and this should be most important-to check for holes and stains. Occasionally I'll come home with bags full of fabric and open up the pieces only to find that there is a big 'ole nasty stain right in the middle. That sucks. So I need to make sure to be more careful in checking before purchasing.
5. My fabrics ALWAYS go through the wash before I use them, I wash them on a normal cycle (with hot water), and run them through the dryer. I want to make SURE that the item isn't going to shrink when you get it :)
So there you have it! Now you know a little bit more about the thought process behind the items in my shop :)

Wore Stories: Rainy Sunday
This Sunday it rained, and was cloudy all day. I didn't even mind-it was nice to sit inside and watch a movie and not feel bad about wasting nice weather.
Here's what I wore to church (and changed out of shortly after family lunch to sit on the couch and watch movies with my husband!)
Dress: F21, Tights: American Apparel, Wedges: Payless, Flower Hair Clip: Heidi-and-Seek Boutique, Earrings: Ten Thousand Villages

Business Woman
So excited-Today I found out Red Velvet is having a SALE on their e-courses, so I immediately purchased this one:
I am so so excited to start it, I've been working on developing my business for a few years now, but I would LOVE to get some more knowledge, tips and ideas about running it successfully! I can't wait to start!
I've also taken the Blog Love ecourse recently, and I've been making little adjustments on my blog in the last little while and am so far loving where it's going :) I would highly recommend taking one of their courses, they are so inspiring and useful! Have you taken any e-course? What did you think?
I'll be back soon with an outfit post from this weekend!

Wore Stories: To Work
I'm the manager of a Ten Thousand Villages store, and I love to get dressed up for work, especially in summer! I love to wear dresses and skirts and bright colors!
Today I'm wearing the skirt I got from Rhymes with Orange on Canada Day Weekend
Tonight I'm going to see Katy Perry-Part of Me. Have you seen it? What did you think?
