Designing clothing for women has always meant that I want women to feel comfortable, stylish and confident in my garments, no matter what size or shape.  I myself struggle with negative body image constantly.  What I like about the body positive movement is that we are encouraged to love ourselves regardless of what other influences tell us, and I am trying to learn to love my body.

I also think healthy habits play a big part in this, however I don’t believe in food or body shaming, I think the guilt we feel over treating ourselves is a huge factor in a negative body image.

My doctor recently suggested I try a Keto diet to help alleviate things like foot pain, uncomfortable bloating and digestion issues, as well as get to a healthier weight for my height.  I was surprised that she suggested a diet since dieting is known to yo-yo and not really help in the long run.  I’ve never been on a diet, I tried a 3 day cleanse once and it went horribly.  I lay on the couch watching movies and cried all weekend, I was so hungry and miserable!  I only lasted 2 days.

The reason I am agreeing to try a Keto diet is because I know I have an unhealthy relationship with food, I can’t seem to muster up any willpower when sweets are around and although I go to the gym regularly, I feel like I’m only managing to stay where I am physically and not seeing much change for the better in my body due to these eating habits.

I’m using the 2 week challenge on dietdoctor.com to jump start this process, which in essence is to turn my body into a fat burning machine.  A Ketogenic diet includes protein, vegetables and LOTS of healthy fats (I don’t think I’ve ever eaten so much butter in one day in my whole life).  This is teaching your body how to burn fat instead of sugar which is supposed to be very helpful for weight loss.  Now I’m not so concerned about the number on the scale, I’m more interested in feeling healthier, less bloated, fewer cravings (a high fat diet is supposed to curb your sugar cravings like crazy!), and just feeling more comfortable in my skin.

If you are interested in following along my Keto journey, I will be posting exclusively in my Instagram Stories on my @heidiandseekboutique Instagram page.  I’m hoping to share with you some of the food in this challenge as well as how its going/how I’m feeling, etc.

So raise your cup of bullion (it’s supposed to help with the withdrawal symptoms the first week of the challenge) and let’s cheers to a new adventure in healthy living.
