Janis Joplin

About a month ago a friend of mine told me she's 'being' Janis Joplin at a fundraiser for a local Folk Festival and she asked me to style her outfit! I wasn't very familiar with Janis' style, so I did some research. Turns out she was quite the hippie! Bottle sunglasses, long crazy hair, beaded jewellry, bangles, not to mention FUR!



I came across this modern Janis Joplin editorial which gave me some more inspiration.






The show is this Saturday which unfortunately I cannot attend, but once I get the clothes back I'll show you what I put together!

And in other news, I finished another dress!

I LOVE this one. The pattern of the top is vintage and SO very cute, and it just turned out SO well. I'm saving all the dresses I make in the next little while for another up-coming Flea Market, but what's left will all go into my shop :) Happy Wednesday!

    Janice is an icon, and I really admire the fact that she burst into a male-dominated music scene and made a place for herself. Her style was bold and unique, and it seems like you've really captured her essence through your research. I can't wait to see what you came up with!

    Also, I am lusting over those patchwork pants.
