Cheese and Crackers

Last week a co-worker brought homemade crackers to work and they were SO good. So I got the recipe and I will share it with you! They're super easy to make and you can add whatever you like to make them tasty for you :)

Recipe:
1¼ cup whole wheat flour
1½ tsp sugar (raw sugar works well here)
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp paprika
4 tbsp butter
¼ cup water
¼ tsp vanilla

*Preheat oven at 400 degrees Celsius


Instructions:
1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl


2. knead into a ball and place on flour'd surface


3. Roll it out REALLY thin (my co-worker said 1/6" thick)


4. Cut into cracker shapes (i used a pizza cutter, it worked really well)


5. Place on baking sheet


6. I warned you about the cheese


7. Bake in oven 8-10 minutes (we did 8, next time I will definitely do 10. They weren't quiiiiite crispy enough so definitely go longer)


8. Cool and serve.

And there you have it! Homemade crackers in about 20 minutes :) You can add seeds, flavorings, whatever you like! Just don't add too much salt like I did :D hehe

Janis Joplin

About a month ago a friend of mine told me she's 'being' Janis Joplin at a fundraiser for a local Folk Festival and she asked me to style her outfit! I wasn't very familiar with Janis' style, so I did some research. Turns out she was quite the hippie! Bottle sunglasses, long crazy hair, beaded jewellry, bangles, not to mention FUR!



I came across this modern Janis Joplin editorial which gave me some more inspiration.






The show is this Saturday which unfortunately I cannot attend, but once I get the clothes back I'll show you what I put together!

And in other news, I finished another dress!

I LOVE this one. The pattern of the top is vintage and SO very cute, and it just turned out SO well. I'm saving all the dresses I make in the next little while for another up-coming Flea Market, but what's left will all go into my shop :) Happy Wednesday!

Here and Wear

Oh my goodness a real outfit post?? I KNOW! Crazy. I find I don't have time (i.e. am too lazy) to take pictures of my outfits most of the time, not to mention there's not really a very good place in my house to take them when it's too cold to go out and take them in the snow. But it's nice now! So we'll see how it goes.

Adventures

Yesterday was my day off so my boyfriend and I went on a little adventure!
We drove to a few nearby towns and visited their thrift stores, went for pizza (That dessert is called Raspberry Eruption and it's from Baked Expectations!) It was a good day.
I love being able to take pictures with my iPod, it's actually really nice not to have to take a camera bag along everywhere in case I see something I want to take a picture of. It's fun :)









Today I am sewing dresses all afternoon!! I'll put them up on here when they're ready :)

10. I recently found out you can play old DOS games online-so I've been playing Duke Nukem ALL DAY! It's amazing. The only thing is that if I close the window...I have to start over...from the very beginning. BOO. Oh well. Hours of entertainment. My goal is to beat the whole game in 1 day at work. It can be done.

And there you have it! Keeps me busy for..well a few hours at least ;)

Weekend Update

Hello! It's Monday! What did you do this weekend?

Saturday I worked during the day (which was too bad because it was SOOO nice outside) and then went to my boyfriend's house for supper which was FANTASTIC!! He just got a meat smoker (they have them at a lot of the restaurants if you watch Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network) and so he made some ribs and his family also bbq'd! (YEAH FIRST BBQ OF THE SEASON!!!) OH MY GOODNESS it was delicious. Then we were too full to do anything else so we watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! So good. Every time. I Can't wait for #2!

Then yesterday we saw Source Code. It wasn't quite what I expected, but it was interesting and Jake Gyllenhaal does a really good job.



Then we watched October Sky which has a younger Jake Gyllenhaal in it, and it was really good! It's about a boy who is destined to work in a coal mine, but he decides he's going to build rockets instead. I really enjoyed it.
